Ι.

The 20th Worldwide IASL Congress of Sports Law, which was organized by the Hellenic Center of Research on Sports Law and in cooperation with many Universities and International Scientific Centers took place from the 11thto the 13th of December 2014 in Athens,at the University of Athens and at TITANIA HOTEL, was accomplishedwith great success.

ΙΙ.
At the Congress many subjects, as the following, were in full discussed:

a) The Theory of Lex Sportiva and Lex Olympica, b) Sports jurisdictional order in the Athletic field, on a national and international level as well as the right to fair trial in Sports, c) The  working relationships in Sports and Sport Contracts, and also the need of an International form of protection for athletes and coaches. To this specific subject the President of IASL Professor Dimitrios Panagiotopoulos added that after the acts of IASL the International Organization of Labor brought up this subject and is being discussed from November 2014 and a decision and other developments are awaited. Also d) Legal playwere highlighted for the protection of sport games from corruption and fixed meetings as well as the protection of game Referees with specific normative systems of independent principle. e) In the field of Sports Law Management Sports Tourism was shown as a need to be given more attention from each country. Another great fact that was mentioned was the 22 year work of IASL in giving prominence to designate Sports as a prudential subject and also as Law that can be applied in action.  

ΙΙΙ.

Among others, findings were recorded that in Sports except of layouts which concern each sport event and Lex Sportiva, undergo several arrangements for matters that have to do with health, public order and safety, personal and financial liberties of the parties involved which can’t be authorized from the administration of sports bodies. Such legal jurisdiction for such matters that have to do with the involvement of the athletes and coaches in sports and those who participate for reasons of living, have only national or supranational entities and not private ones. For the security of the smooth expedite of national sports and the avoidance of negative phenomenons as the fixed games and corruption, the establishment of a Corpus Juris Athletiki and a National Sports Code has aroused.

 

General Assembly of IASL
Elections for designating the new Board of Directors

Athens13 -12-2014

The International Association of Sports Law (IASL) completed the Regular General Assembly of its members, on the 13th December 2014 at the HOTEL TITANIA that elections took place and the new Board of Directors were appointed. President of IASL for the 3rd time in a row was unanimously elected, Professor of Sports Law of the University of Athens Dimitrios Panagiotopoulos.
