IASL President info-wishes 2011

Dear members and friends of the IASL,

Another year of fruitful creation for our Union is gone. In the past year the presence of our Union in the international scientific activity was strong with a rich involvement in many scientific events, and several scientific publications.

As you know the latest scientific facts were:

1. The 16th IASL Congress in Seoul for the organization of which was responsible our dear friend and fellow board member of IASL, Yeun KeeYoung. This conference took place on the 24th-27th of November at Hanyang University, was hosted by KASEL Korean Association Sports and Entertainment Law, and was crowned with complete success. He had too many participants from over 50 countries with interesting suggestions that you can find in the volume edited by Professor Yeun KeeYoung and will be placed on the website of IASL. This conference led to very interesting conclusions such as that in order to have an international legitimizing basis in international sport, you should proceed to the processing and creation of the international sports map-  International Convention in order to secure the rights of participants and the protection of personal and financial freedoms of participants in international sporting life. The organizers of this Congress really deserve congratulations.

2. After the IASL conference in Seoul, a delegation of IASL with President, participated to the International Symposium of Scientized Sports Law, held at the China University Political Science and Law by the Research Center of Sports law of CUPL in Beijing.  The symposium was an excellent debate with the highest level of excellent colleagues from different countries. Further more, we should inform you that as every year, at the IASL Conference in Seoul were held meetings of the Board and members of IASL GA according to our new Constitution, as amended at 12th Congress in Slovenia.

The Board and the General assembly discussed the financial state of the IASL and the possible ways to find resources to meet its purpose as well as ways that could lead to an even better organization and greater success of the conference. It was also mentioned by the arranger of the 15th Congress IASL Poland 2009, Jacek Foks that by the end of this year, the volume of his work will be issued and placed on the IASL website.

1. General Assembly members were led to the following decisions:

1. To give timely notice to the members of the debt towards the IASL and to issue at the beginning of each year the membership card in order be sent immediately to the member as soon as the  payment is completed.

2. To formulate an IASL conference organization code, in order to know in advance the terms and responsibilities undertaken by those who are interested to organize a conference in the future.

3. To design a form memorandum of understanding with the sponsor country and the organizing body of IASL Congress according to the Code.

4. To establish an online magazine called e-Lexpo Sports Law Journal that would have its own website in parallel with the IASL, with editorial board and special committees work. In addition, it was suggested that the historical magazine of the IASL, International Sports Law Review Pandektis, should be enriched and that we should try to make it a valuable tool for the IASL members.

5. To ask for a review of the committee’s works that were set up last year in order to be assessed by the Board and to be upgraded for their immediate and effective work which would lead to the effective development IASL from a scientific point of view.

6. To establish an IASL Special Committee that will implement the outcome of the conference in order to proceed to the creation of the International Sporting Charter as an international convention.

Finally there were suggestions for future conferences of IASL, in 2013 and 14, which will be submitted in writing, for review and decision by IASL’s relevant organs.

Dear Members and Friends, as President of IASL I am inviting you to participate actively in our Organization’s works.

Please do show your interest and send your proposals for implementation of the above decisions.

You could send any material and studies for publication by its scientific institutions. Pandektis is already in print and we could include studies and other material for publication, which could be sent until the 15th of January 2011.
